I began to write the story of my opening night in Bangkok a couple of years ago when I started the blog, and just recently realized I never ended up or published it.
And you could ask, is it because I’m ashamed of it?
No. It’s actually rather a funny one.
So why the hell did I never finished writing this post?
Most likely due to the fact that I got sidetracked once again, or confused, like I was that night.
So let me tell you what happened my first night ever in Bangkok, and Thailand.
A bit of context
What was I carrying out in Bangkok?
Did I came for the hot women, parties, smoking cigarettes weed on the island …
Really, not at all. It was quite the opposite.
I first pertained to Thailand in November 2011, right after my very first year as a bartender.
I was only 21 but currently burnout due to the fact that I worked excessive, intoxicated way excessive, and due to the fact that the girl I was completely in love with broke my heart once again …
So I needed to break the circle and to spend some time to focus on myself, far from all sorts of drinking and nightlife.
Here I was, on a plane going to Thailand, on my method to take some rest, consider my life, discover Muay Thai, and chill on the beach.
A minimum of that was the plan.
Landing in Bangkok
On the aircraft, I met some individuals that were staying at Khaosan Roadway, among the most popular streets in the world for backpackers and travelers.
A crazy location with heaps of bars, clubs, loud music, drunk backpackers, chuckling ballons, and hopefully … these guys.
We remain in 2012, including them as pals on Facebook didn’t come to my mind and I didn’t even use Whatsapp.
So we simply plan to meet at Khaosan around 9 pm.
Among my buddies has a home in Bangkok, in Silom, so I’m biding farewell to the people at the airport and get on my method to the house to drop my bag prior to I join them in Khaosan.
The very first time you get here is rather an experience if you haven’t been to Thailand or Bangkok prior to. Particularly if you’re traveling solo.
Going through the long queue at the migration, seeing indications everywhere composed with odd vermicelli, individuals speaking a language you can’t even remotely comprehend … it’s rather extreme, especially after a long flight.
Then you leave the airport, lastly. And the weight of the heat drops on you.
Hot, worn out, confused, I get a taxi to go to Silom at my pal’s apartment and get scammed by the taxi.
Up until now, it’s the common very first hour in Bangkok for anybody who’s going there for the very first time.
I come to the home, drop my bag, and go directly to take a shower.
I can feel I’m tired however the adrenaline of remaining in a new location gets the best of me.
I change and get on my way to Khaosan.
First Time in Khaosan
As soon as I get down the condominium I jump in a Tuk Tuk, since that’s most likely the way locals get around, and I’m heading to Khaosan.
I can’t keep in mind how much I paid for the ride, most likely method too much, but I have actually made it to Khaosan, 1 hour late.
For anyone who never ever been to Khaosan Roadway in the past, how to explain it?
It’s actually loud, packed, there’s all type of smells and odd things going on … it isn’t like anything you have actually seen prior to.
Fried scorpions and spiders on sticks, flames coming from street food stalls, people getting massages in the street beside a live band and drunk backpackers drinking in pails … whatever cliché you get about Thailand is there.
I go up and down the street about 10 times looking for the men I fulfilled on the plane however I can’t find them, and honestly, I can’t truly remember their look like.
There are just too numerous individuals, and I’m too thirsty.
After about 1 hour, I quit. I go to one of the biggest bars in Khaosan roadway, order a beer, and look at people going crazy in the street.
When things get strange
Time’s passing, I’ve drunk about 3 big Leo (the most popular online dating thai girls (Thairomances.com) beer) and I choose to play swimming pool. I play 2 video games with various people and return to my table.
That’s when a Thai lady approaches me and asks me if I wish to play with her.
I hesitate, tell her I don’t have any money, but she pays and insists for the swimming pool, and for my beer.
I don’t know how many video games or beers followed however I know that by the time the bar will close I’ve lost most of the games and I’m pretty drunk.
At this moment, I’m not even sure what I’m doing here. I simply keep drinking and playing swimming pool.
I can feel the Thai girl is getting closer and closer to me, laughing at whatever I’m saying and she’s drunk also.
She’s a bit chubby, quite little, not actually my type, but at this point of the night (and in my life) I don’t really have a type anymore.
We kiss. And kiss once again. And when the bar close she asks me if we can go to my hotel.
I inform her I live far away and there’s no chance I’m bringing her to my space.
She asks me if I wish to take a space in Khaosan so we can have sex.
At this point, I become suspicious, so I tell her I do not have any money.
She offers to pay for the room. My dick agrees. And we go around looking for a short time space.
But every hotel we go to state no.
They’re either completely booked or I don’t understand online dating thai girls what they’re saying.
Then she resembles “I know a hotel but it’s a bit far”. I’m like “I don’t mind, however I don’t have any money”.
She states “It’s fine, I’ll spend for it”.
So she stops a taxi, we get in, and I got no concept where we’re going.
I do not understand for how long we remained in the taxi, however I believe we invested a minimum of 30 minutes therein.
At this point, I got no idea where I am in Bangkok or what I’m doing there.
She picks up a minute to withdraw some cash and returned with a handful of thousand baht notes, so apparently there’s sufficient money to spend for the cab, and the hotel.
Cool.
What is That Place?
The taxi lastly takes a last turn and enter a parking, where somebody closes a curtain behind the taxi.
I got no idea where we are or what is that place.
That’s when I start to feel a bit nervous.
Are men gon na come from behind the curtain and beat me up to steal my money and my phone? Is this the way people get their kidneys stolen?
She pays for the ride, we leave the taxi and we walk into a room where there are a bed, an unusual chair, and a bathroom.
That’s the real photo of the room
Now I think I understand where we are.
I understand it’s some sort of love hotel, but again, who the hell is she?
Why did she accept to spend for whatever? What’s the catch here?
She goes into the bathroom to “prepare”.
I take a look around and I start to go nuts. I know I need to get out of there.
I knock on the door of the restroom and ask “Do you have any condoms?”. She says “Yes, one in my bag”. So I inform her “Ok, I’m gon na go buy more at 7 Eleven”.
Before she got the time to get or respond to out of the restroom, I leave the space.
As I’m getting the eff out of there, press the curtain and walk rapidly to the main street nearby, one guard who works there starts to shout at me.
Is he asking if I need anything? Is he pissed since he thinks I’m leaving without paying (which I totally am)? No concept. I’m not stopping.
I wave my hand in the air to state: “I’ll be back soon” and keep walking actually quick to the street.
Then as quickly as I get here in the street and I leave his sight, I begin to run!
I most likely ran non stop for a minimum of 15 minutes, always looking back to see if nobody was following me.
And nobody was. Except for some street pets.
The Walk of Embarassment
“The Stroll of Shame” There’s no better expression to describe that minute.
It has to do with 5 am now, the sun will increase, I’ve got no idea where I am, but I know I’m far from house.
With the help of the GPS on my phone that is working despite the fact that I don’t have a SIM Card, I handle to find my way back house.
I walked to return there. And it took me about 2 hours.
I still remember to nowadays, that’s approximately what the walk I did I was:
At least that was a great way to find some parts of the city I would have probably never seen by myself.
And after that I finally made it “back home”.
There you have it.
That’s what happened for my very first night ever in Bangkok and Thailand.
Rather a story.
But nothing compared to other nights I have actually had after that.
I believe anyone who resided in Bangkok for a few years could compose a book full of stories you wouldn’t believe.
Anyway. If you need to know more about Bangkok, read my other posts.
